Hey all, just got off the phone with Marty, I placed an order for a set of headers and we go to chatting.
1- Please call Marty @ 818-507-6937 for all orders. He is having problems with his email being bounced and is not receiving any.
2- WeaponR: Marty just got back from SEMA and said that WeaponR was trying to peddle their wares. Looks like a Cease-and-Desist order will take effect early next year so they will no longer be able to sell/market them.
Later,
Michael

1) Marty made MSDS headers 2) Leo Now of Weapon-R Got ahold of a set 3) Exact knock-offs of MSDS headers in SS starting showing up for sale
That is VERY vague and simplistic view, but you get the gist. I know all the little nasty details, but the fact remains that someone dedicated to the CDw-27 platform create a great product, that was sent to Asia to be mass produced and sold at a large difference back here in the states. I feel for Marty on this one!!!

Now Marty needs to copy the revised Weapon-r y-pipe That... and Marty should have filed a cease and desist against them a long time ago.

I'll believe that when I see it. Is his design patented? Also, they are different enough that I bet they can get away without patent infringement on the current design. I mean geez, there is only so many ways that you can fit a shorty header, 3 into 1 collector with wraparound pipe system in that closed space. The y-pipe is a direct copy of factory, so is the header flange. All that really leaves open to invention is the tube diameter, length of tubes, O2 sensor and EGR fittings, and material use. We all KNOW that WeaponR wasn't too good on the EGR and O2 sensor locations! Marty's headers are a better fit. We all know that Marty uses ceramic coated mild steel and weaponR uses stainless (a mixture of 400 and 304 stainless by the way). The weaponR's still work though so in the long run I can only say that they are Different enough no matter how weaponR designed their first set.
I'm guessing he may be trying to take action, but the trying and the doing are two different things entirely. Shoot, I could build a set of headers on my own without measuring anything from Marty's or WeaponR's, just by making a mount from the stock manifolds and sort of connecting the dots you know?

Well, the lawyer fees have to come out of his pocket, that is not cheap and may have influenced the time it took for this to happen.
I can feel for Marty, as a lot of jobs in my industry and company are now being shipped overseas to India. A global economy is one thing, but with such a trade imbalance something has got to give.

I can feel for him too. But on the other hand, (we)You and I are going to pay for the MSDS headers AND the lawyers now too if he actually goes through with it. I say more power to him just on principal. My pocketbook speaks another language however.
My common sense is that he probably is just pissed off and is 'talking' about it and I'll bet it doesn't happen. Too many variables for him to definitively prove they are copies of his. The reverse engineering business has been going on a long time. I think this was covered before, but we wouldn't have all these nice Japanese cars if it weren't for their reverse engineered and improved upon products.
