Hi all SVTers!

I have spent about 45 minutes reading the forums on "P0420" code for different and interesting ways of fixing it without spending $700 on a new manifold AND without spending the $30 on the "MilEliminator (crap). To be honest I am at a state where I really don't know what to do. I DO have another pre-cat from another SVT that I worked on and have not tried it yet. Now since the extra manifold is off the engine and easier to handle, would you guys recommend any cleaning solution that can be safe to use on the filter that's in the pre-cat? Like break dust cleaner, carb cleaner, high preasure steam, etc.

IMHO your best low dollar solution will be to perform the mystery mod and get some MIL eliminators.

Next would be MSDS headers & install kit.

Just forget about replacement precats unless you live in CA.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Those aren't filters inside the precats and there is no guaranteed way to clean them either once they're fouled up.

If you aren't willing to pay for a replacement, you can put in a MIL Eliminator and presto you're golden.

If you do decide to put brake (not break) cleaner in your intake I can assure you that it will work as break (not brake) cleaner and you will be getting a lot more CEL codes to deal with.

If you are good at soldering you can make your own MIL eliminator VERY cheap and pretty darn easy. Or you can just buy a pair and splice them in.

I was able to solder my homemade MIL Eliminator inside the plastic plug that connects it to the vehicle. Completely hidden and weatherproof.

Ok, cool. Thanks guys for some pointers. I was just being paranoid that the engine will fek up if I don't do anything about it. Which I am sure it will if I keep it like that forever. Thanks again.
