Hello everyone. I last posted that i thought that I had lost my clutch or trans alltogether. Well i lucked out. The clutch was soon to go anyhow, from what I could see on the clutch disc (it was just at the rivets). What had happened was that the internal bearings became very worn (210,000 miles, original clutch and trans)and that eventually caused the left axle to pop out, which brought me to a dead stop. I had her towed to a trans shop, and after a tear down they said that the bearings were shot and the spider gears took a beating from all of the free play. So all that was replaced. A full gasket and seals etc... and since they were in there I had them replace the lower control arm too, with the ball joint. Saves all the hassle of dealing with the trans case in the way when you replace it, and playing with that nasty sawzall to chop the bolts. I'm hoping that I can get another 200k on this clutch and trans!!! All this excitement for $2400.00!!!

For a little extra I would have put a Torsen/Quaife in ... actually I did, and I'll tell you now ... I'm not regretting it!

true 'bout the torsen but the cash just quit flowin'!! and luckily the diff was fine. just the spider gears were mildly damaged from the sloppy bearings and the clutch disc was just at the rivets.
