I apologize in advance for being a complete neophyte;
I have searched the archives to the best of my ability(I'm a computer idiot as well) I simply want to know the exact fluids and quantities of each needed to empty and refill the transaxle in my 99 Contour SVT. I don't have a garage to work on my car and my local mechanic said if I bring him the fluids he'll do the drain and fill for $20. I thank you in advance for your time.

Wrong forum but to answer your question ... 2.7 quarts of XT-M5-QS commonly known as Ford honey.

In an SE (5 speed) .. the exact amount needed is 3L .. I'm assuming that SVT is the same ( since its the exact transmission)..

I use 2.7L of Mobil 1 ATF and 0.3L XL7..

and had used Mobil 1 and XL3 for 110,000 kms before I had to change my transmission due to grinding issue..

There has been major controversy on what type of fluid to use.. if you can afford the Ford Honey (which is like $20 US a quart) is the safe bet.. though Iâ??m sure Mobil 1 is fine..

I have the original Manual and a Haynes manual and they state to use ATF.. I know it has been revised recently, but my car had survived 110,000 kms on Mobil 1 before too much "over enthusiastic driving ruined the synchros..

Cheers
Martin

P.S. Hopefully I don't get Flamed for recommending Mobil 1 :P

Thanks for the information. Would you happen to know an online reputable source for purchasing the Ford Honey?

Your local dealership should carry it.
