I have a 2.0 zetec, MTX, recently I have noticed, sort of a whistling noise, at about 4500-5500 RPM, only in 1-3. Im wondering if it has always been there and I've never noticed it, if its bad...  and if any of you hear the same. It almost sounds like a turbo, just quieter. (Sorry I posted this in another section, then relized it should go here.)

Mine has started that noise the last month or so. My sisters ZX2 has had it all its life. Not sure what causes it, but Im not worried about it too much.

A lot of people report that on their Zetec's. Its pretty common, it has a lot to do with the serpentine belt... The goodyear gatorback belt is the belt of choice for the zetec and it makes a supercharger like "whine" to it, and its fairly loud too.

Ah, that makes sense. It got really loud on the ZX2 when we put that belt on. She likes the sound

I love the sound too, but for some reason, deep down, it makes me nervous, even though I know it is perfectly normal.
