Does anyone in here have a rollage in their Contours? If so, did you find a prefab one? Was it custom built...and also do you have the specs to build it?
Thanks in advance... Duxie

Call Autopower. They may have an application for the Contour. They build LOTS of roll cages, both bolt-in and weld-in. I'd give you their #, but I can't find it right now.

Some people like to turn left and right on road courses, and like the extra protection that a roll cage affords them. Sure, it's been done. Besides for Seth, there are a couple folks that have campaigned Contours in the Speedvision Touring Car seriers. Albert Mirko is one, if you can't get anywhere with Alex's suggestion, try getting in touch with Albert and see if he can give you any pointers. www.mirkoracing.com

Avenger,
Yes, roll cages can be nicely done in any car for road events. I would doubt that anyone is gonna have one off the shelf though, given that Contour's aren't exactly CRX's or Mustangs in aftermarket support.
Back in my Ford days (early-mid 90's) I saw a number of Contour prototypes running around the proving grounds with cages. The coolest part about these cages was that they were integrated in the interior, mostly hiding behind trim panels. Very little of the tubing was visible - kinda the anti-rice look.
But I have no idea who put these cages together - prolly some Detroit prototyping service like Carron and Company. If you need this kind of service, go to your local dirt/asphalt track and start asking around. You may be suprised what kind of custom fabrication is available by your average Joe Bob speed shop.

The shop I go to makes roll cages and they are always telling me that is I want to make my car really handle I need a roll cage(their kidding of course). But, it does double the body ridgity and allows you suspension function better.

most of the contour cages running around dearborn were done by Roush, and for Bondurant.
It's all about balance.
