Has anyone here done the mystery mod without drilling a hole in the manifold to insert a screwdriver? I'd like to keep mine as stock looking as possible and don't want to plug the hole with a bolt or have it welded. Just wondered if anyone found a way to successfully get all the guts out by removing the Y-pipe and going at it with some sort of tool. Thanks.

I tried for HOURS before giving up and drilling the hole... in my opinion.. it cannot be done... i even "custom" bent some screwdrivers to try... plus.. w/o the hole you cannot peep in to see if you got it all out. Youll have to bite the bullit and do the drill or cut method...

ok explain to me whats the mystery mod what does it intail of and how mych gain if any does it give or sound better etc?? let me know guys

got a how to or could you please post it. i have been wanting to do it for somw time. also do you have the plans for the O2 censor thing?

Also, the above explains how to build the MIL (malfunction indicator light) eliminators that you'll need to plug into your O2 sensors to keep the CEL (check engine light) from coming on after doing the mod, depending on your model year. Some people have said they don't feel confident in building these things and would rather buy them already made. One place that has been mentioned many times charges $60 for a set of MILs. I found another place that sells them for $24.95 per set. You might want to ask them if they're compatible with the Contour (it's a Mustang site) but if they are it's a great deal. Hehehe... I basicly wrote that howto. That was puckpuck... i did the mystery mod on his car. Its a good howto... just follow that and you are guaranteed success. Oh.. and those radio shack mil elim work great. Ive logged about 20K miles and no mil (from that at least)
