every once in a while my car will loose power after about 3500 rpm's when the secondary intake ports should open. it is almost like they just arent opening. the car will still accelerate a little but it just sounds like it will explode if i keep reving it higher. but then if i stop and turn the car off for like 10 minutes or so, and then turn it back on and start driving, it runs fine again. so im not sure if it could be some kind of carbon build up or something just getting held up, or what? it doesnt happen all the time, it only happens every once in a while. please help.

Make, model, and year would help us to understand.

I suspect a fuel delivery problem, but tell us more about your car.

I've searched and read all the posts to no avail and I have this same problem--except in my case I'm losing power

Everything I read makes mention of the filter being clogged, but my problem doesn't seem to depend on the level of fuel in the tank. If its carbon build up, how can I clean this off?

I have almost 108,000 miles on my 98 Mystique LS

Thanks

IMRC failure? Or you may want to try the UIM cleaning first.

Edit.
