About a week ago my drivers side fog light went out. I just got around to going to the store to buy another 893 bulb. I replaced the bulb this evening and its still not lighting up.

I know it couldnt be the fuse because the two lights run off the same fuse, and the other light works. Despite that knowledge, I checked the fuse anyway. It's still good.

Anyone have any other idea as to why this is happening or did I just encounter a rare occurrence by buying a broken bulb?

Test the bulb with an ohm meter, open=bad, or swap to the other side. If good, you might have a socket corrosion problem. I had a wire corrode off my license light, due to trunk leak I think is (Now) fixed...

yea, use a test light to see if there is any power running to the socket. If there is, the socket must be bad. If there is no problem, and the fuse is good, then a wire might be corroded or broke from corrosion.

or an ohm meter

If the corrosion is in the socket, you might be able to clean/tighten the contacts and use silicone grease to preserve it.
