Well, I have been searching the web for a bit now, and have seen that the average price of a N20 bottle heater is zbout 120 bucks. Wondering this. What the hell is the orange band made out of that makes this thing so damn expensive? All it seems to be is a heating element and thermostat?
How hard would it be to construc one? Now, before you go ff and tell me I am gonna blow my car up, this is purely hypothetical. I have see nthe pics of the maxima that left his shizzle on all night, and trust me, i ain't going that route. Just some suggestions on another way to do this.
Right now, I heat my bottle with halogen lamps or hot water. Crude yet effective. All io do is watch the guage and then turn off the source as needed. BAd part is, I can only do this at home. Not the track.
Ideas welcome....

there is a valve you can get that releases preasure in the bottle when it gets too high... i have the warmer and its great!!
99 svt contour -its fast. period. 91 mustang gt -its faster. period. 86 Buick Grand National - its way faster, double period!

i wasnt referring to the purge kit... its like a release that goes onto the actual bottle that releases pressure when it gets too high. ive seen used bottle warmers on ebay, or corral.net for under $100. my friend bought a entire used N.O.S. system, bottle warmer, and purge kit for $300. Sorry if what i said before wasnt clear.

It is a valve connected to the bottle that has a tube vented to the outside of the car. If the pressure gets to high, it will release the pressure and vent it to outside of the car. Some tracks require it to run, although it may only be on cars were the bottle is mounted in the drivers compartment. Not sure of the exact rule.

Well, I just got off my wallet and bought a damn heater anyways. Only 120 stright off the showroom floor. I hope it helps me get my times down.....

yes i know i should know better than to ask this question, espessially cause i have n20 as well, but... how does a bottle heater increase performance, i understand that when gasses become warmer they become less dense, but how does this translate to more power, please be kind

Nitrous works on bottle pressure to drive the N2O through the lines since there is no pump. So, increase pressure and you increase performance ... to a point. Optimal bottle pressure is 950 psi ... anything lower and you are not getting 100% performance that you could ... any higher and you will likely weaken fitting and cause possible damage to the solenoids. In the winter, the bottle pressure can drop drastically ... below 500 ... might as well not run the nitrous below 800 because it will turn a 75 shot into something more like a 30 shot.

Welcome Greg, and thanks Trevor! Man, I can tell a huge difference between 900psi and 1000 psi. Almost insane. Can't wait to get my bottle heater in tommorow!
