Hey y'all. Now that I've probably alientated everyone with my one and only post in support of Tella... I have a not so well researched question. I have read all the troubleshooting posts on tie rods and control arms, but not sure this is my problem. I have not looked under the car either (hence not well researched). When I turn the steering wheel, at a certain point I can feel movement under my left foot on the floorboard - like something is loose right under my foot. The car's drivability seems absolutely normal. Thoughts? Thanks.

No, you haven't.

"When I turn the steering wheel,"
Left or right or both directions?

"at a certain point I can feel movement under my left foot on the floorboard - like something is loose right under my foot. The car's drivability seems absolutely normal. Thoughts?"
First the easy one, remove your driver's side carpet and see if it helps. I read once that somebody had the carpet roll up and had problems with the clutch pedal (and not being able to change gears because of that).

Then do you clunking noises when you go over a bump? Then you may want to do the "wheel bearing", etc. tests.

Edit. This thread has some interesting points.

Thanks Tony...

It happens with the wheel turned significantly, (at least half-way thru wheel turn travel). It definately occurs with the wheel turned right -- will check left and respond. When it reaches that spot, I can turn the wheel left and right slightly past the spot and repeat the sensation over and over -- like something's hitting the underside of the floorboard at that spot in the turn. No clunking sounds while driving. I'll go look at your link now. Thanks. Keep thinking...

A few months ago.... I posted this. It may help.

On the other hand, you may want to try taping or tying a cheap camcorder under and recording the undersides while driving. I have a $100 one from Target (which records for 5 minutes or so).

Don't use the $1,000 ones though (the person you borrowed it from might not appreciate it).
