A friend in Oklahoma is looking at a '98 SVT and is asking me what he should offer on it. Midnight blue, 88k miles, good shape, totally stock. He says it drives straight and appears to have no damage other than several door dings. The guy is asking $5800.
Thanks in advance for any advice I can pass on to him.

If that's in good condition, I'd say that's fair, but it can't hurt to bargain!

...well, unless the guy knocks ya out for insulting him!

I Just bought a 98 SVT for $5200 but it has 126k on the Odometer. I have all the records though engine has only 60k on it other not to mention new Window Regulators, Rotors,Calipers, alternator, and water pump. So $5800 I would say sounds alright but your the only one who can decide that .

I bought mine in August of this year with 90,000 miles on it for $3500 bucks. Clean Carfax and decent condition. Lot's of door dings and such but overall not a bad car. Even had a decent stereo in it with subs and two amps.

Run a carfax on the car, and check the book value as well. Unless the car is absolutly perfect I wouldn't pay high book for it.
