Hey everyone i have a 96 ford contour v6 and my oil just started leaking. i searched but cant come up with an explanation for it. my oil leaks only when the car was running and was a consistent leak like a leaky faucet. now as of yesterday it dosent leak at all but i still gat a burning smell and smoke is coming from the passenger side fender. my dad says its a oil pressure switch and my friends say its a timing chain cover gasket. any help will be appreciated

Thanks
Bryan

Well,

If you're sure it's leaking only whilst the engine is running, then it's gotta be leaking from somewhere that's pressurized. That rules out covers and gaskets for the most part, and leaves you (indeed) with the oil pressure sender, or maybe something as simple as a loose oil filter (?)

Cheers,

Clean the oily portion of the engine well, go for a drive, then park it and put newspapars under and try to determine where the leak is coming from.
