ok let's say we have a regular V6 2.5 motor...what are the most restrictive parts in order from most to least restrictive? assuming it has a basic intake, and a trubendz cat back exhaust.

MAF...TB...UIM...LIM...intake ports on heads...exhaust ports on heads...exhaust manifolds...y-pipe...cat section...another part of your choice

by restrictive i mean by "all motor" standards...not boosted or anything like that cause then it all changes lol. also, what would be the most restrictive parts on an SVT motor...since the UIM/LIM/TB/heads are different.

well adding a set of MSDS headers can net as much as 15 horsepower, so I"d say that's a pretty strong choke. adding SVT (bigger) UIM/LIM compenents is also pretty noticeable, since the sizes are pretty different. A lot of the other stuff you listed is negligable, but a modified Y-pipe is also a highly suggested mod, but it doesn't surpass the headers.

and fyi, you double posted this thread

i was pretty much just asking so i would know...i already have an I/H/E, and an SVT LIM/TB on the way. but since i have been looking at all of these parts that have air going thru them i was just wondering which ones were THE MOST restrictive

Those are for a "stock" Duratec engine.

The order of the last 4 on an SVT whould be:

SVT TB
SVT UIM
SVT LIM
SVT heads

Not saying all year SVT's are "equal" because the later years have some better pieces but the order would still remain the same.

You just do what i did and take off the Catback exhaust, Sounds Loud as hell and the drone is retarted but if you want freeflowing nothings better than no exhaust..

So the stock panel airbox is restrictive, but what about the enclosed cone shaped airbox on an SVT, at what level of tune is this restrictive?
