whats the difference between 95 Windshields and 96+?
i was quoted $560CND for a new 95 windshield installed but the 96s and up for $310. So I asked if the 96 would fit on my 95 and i was told "No" but no reason of why not.
I thought the 95 and 96s shared the same windshield! don't they?

I'm not aware of them being different. You may want to check with another glass shop and get another opinion. Sometimes there is a difference in the tint, or even in the area that is tinted, or in the mask (the area near the rear view mirror with a bunch of tiny dots as well as the same sort of pattern around the windshield). May times there are such differences without there being any difference in the glass fit and often the later better one is less expensive.

that was the exact thought that went thru my mind, until the shop called around asking if the 96s and 95s are interchangeble and the answer was NO.
so i was hoping someone on here has tried installing a 96s windshield on a 95 contour successfully, and the shop was trying to make a little more money off of me.

That is why I suggested calling a few more glass shops. I would be very surprised if they are not interchangable.

When you live in a town of 8000 people, you don't have the luxury of choice. But I called to few shops in Edmonton (320 mile round trip) and got a mix of its not interchangeable and it is. So I setup an appointment for Saturday to install a new windshield for $286 including tax at one of the shops that said it can be done. I will note the difference between the 95s and 96s and post them here next week.
