Nice receiver!! I recently switched to M&K speakers and they sound fantastic. You should find a dealer and audition them although I'm not sure what your budget is.

Very nice. Get me a budget, number and type of speakers needed, and size requirements and i'll recommend something.

Nice setup. Can I ask what that receiver goes for? Where did you pick that up at? I just sold my 27" Sony flat screen and all of my surround, and looking to upgrade. There's a 51" Toshiba Cinema Series DLP I'm looking at, but wanting some insite on surround.. I've got my eye on a Harmon Karden receiver.

That's what I'm going to be keeping my eye out for. 5.1 just doesn't cut it anymore. 6.1 would be an upgrade, but why not just go 7.1 and be done with it?

6.1 and 7.1 are useless believe it or not. nothing is coded further than 5.1. the receivers do a very good job of improvising those channels, but as for anything made current-day, 5.1 is the most they'll do.
don't let that discourage you from buying a setup like that, but if it costs monstrously more than a 6.1 or 5.1 (and a good one, at that) then i wouldn't push for it too much.

6.1 and 7.1 are overkill in probably every home theater owned by anyone on this site.

maybe, but if i'm going to upgrade, i'll do it to something that has 7.1. maybe overkill now, but not later.

my reciever does a very nice job with making the 7.1 sound nice. Especially when it is encoded with DTS. I honestly don't think that 6.1 or 7.1 is an overkill at all.
