I posted a little post the other day hoping to inspire some debate and excitement. The post was entitle" Turbo's, the probe, and other rants". If you want read the post. It basically pointed out that the turbo kit hasn't been coming along to fast. On the other hand another FoMoCo product, the probe, (well really mazda) has some underground turbo successes. Anyways I think I got a little down on the contour (as demon svt kindly pointed out). I would like to state that I really like the contour and have some mad respect for it. However the car would be ten times better in the power area if a turbo kit was released. The time has come my friends... I love our car and have respect, but not many others do. I do not mean to take shots at the car or anyone on the forum for that matter, but we need a turbo kit. Anyways lets get a little feedback on this one.

Put your money where your mouth is...I'm sure both Mr Hightower and myself would be glad to take a say $2000 deposit on a t/c kit for a Contour set up...we could buy the hardware and start building it right now !

I personally don't have 2,000 dollars to spend right now on creating a kit, and from what I have read the kit would take much more than 2,000 to piece together. However, I wanna see the kit just as much as the other guy so here is my idea: how bout everyone put 20 bucks in the pot? It would take 100 people to conribute, and maybe we could give contributers a tshirt or somethin... Maybe we could get some official ceg sponsorship here, if there could be such a thing.

OK... Well shirts cost money too, thus taking away money from the actual deposit towards the Turbo...

As long as you are looking for items to be available for the Contour that you can't afford, why not wish for the twin-turbo with intercooler and ram-air plumbed for nitrous?
How about Chris Hightower is making the turbo kit and not whining and *****ing for dollars? Send me your twenty and the t-shirt, I'll use my own permanent marker and put "Contour Turbo Sponsor" on it in big block letters, then return the shirt to you and forward the 20 spot to Chris?

If you don't have $2k to put up as a deposit for a turbo kit, where would you get ~$5k for a completed kit? let alone the money to have it installed? (from the sound of it, you wouldn't be able to install one yourself anyway)
Think about the probe, it has been around for far longer than the Contour, giving probe owners far longer to develop a kit for it.
besides, why is a turbo kit so necessary? If you are in that big of a hurry, build your own. Otherwise, sit down and wait for Mr. Hightower or Mr. Haines.
It's all about balance.

Bob- for the love of all things big and small please stop now! They can smell blood. They are circling you right now. Get out of the water quick!!!! I personally can't wait to see the turbo come out either. Will I buy it? Probably not. Too much crap has broken on this car already. Need to make it last a bit longer. At least until the new Evolution hits America. But if you want to make your car go really fast right now there are lots of stuff you could be throwing on. We can all enjoy our cars for what they are, sweet azz little corner burners. They will never be quarter mile heroes unless you throw in enough money to buy a whole nother SVT. Now there's an idea....a twin motor Tour.....

Ok here's the deal. I never said I wanted to create a kit myself. I never said I was knowledgeable enough to install one myself. I never said that I actually had 5,000 bucks to spend on a full kit + install charges. The point of the post and I quote from my original statement was, " Anyways lets get a little feedback on this one." Feedback my friends not this macho "pay up sucka" deal.
I was trying to be a decent guy and point out that in my original post that I got down on the Contour a little and in some cases Chris himself. I apologized once and I will do it again. That was by no means my intention.
I don't mean to preach or demean anyone in the post, especially since respected guys like Rara are giving me some heat.
I threw out an idea on what we could do to support Chris in his project. This one quickly came underfire and has taken some major heat too. It was just an idea, and once again I wanted feedback. I got some feedback. It wasn't exactly positive and it verged on childish, but it was feedback none the less.
I respect you guys even if you think I am an idiot. I was just trying to spur on some excitement about a car that I am infatuated with, the contour. I had seen successes in other car communities similar to ours and could see us on the edge, about to take that fateful leap. I was trying to pump you guys up, to go over that ledge and see what was in the future.
I would like to end this post by apologizing to anyone I have offended. Once again this was not my intention, and I am very sorry if my actions pissed anyone off.
Peace
