From what Ive been reading, many of the problems he was telling me about were pre 98. Like problems with the trannys and clutches. It appears as though that was addressed in 98 when they went from rod shift to a cable. Similiarly the same is true for the brake issues.
Are parts hard to come by and are they more expensive?
I live in georgia so I dont think that is AS much of an issue.

You'll find that most of the people on CEG are going to give you a better diagnosis than your mechanic will when looking at the car. No offense to him, it's just that pretty much every problem with these cars have been documented on this site, and certain symptons ring certain bells with people. You say "I don't get that extra kick at 3500 rpms", we say "your IMRC box is bad, or your secondaries are sticking".. Not something your everyday mechanic will pinpoint for you without checking out the car for a while. Good luck, and I'd say $5k is a pretty good deal. What catback and cold air are on the car?

P.S. The interior is actually midnight blue, which is commonly mistaken for black.

Yes, and subtle intricacies like this that you won't find elsewhere.
