I'm not positive this applies to the FL-2005, but I know it's accurate for the FL820S:
Aftermarket Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator, and are a PureOne element in a Premium Plus can.
Mobil 1 filters are made by Champion Laboratories, the same people who make the OEM Motorcrafts. Incidentally, Champion also makes K&N oil filters...and SuperTech filters for Wally World...
WIX makes NAPA Gold filters.
All of the above filters are excellent...

What about the FL-300? That's the one that fits my car.

I use the Motorcraft FL-2005w from Walmart. Cost is $4
They use to be about $3.50 then about 3 months agon, they raised their prices.
The 'w' in the part number I believe has something to do with being a Motorcraft part made for Walmart.
The Puralator equivalent to the FL-2005 is like $7. The PureOne really isn't needed except for extended drain intervals like if you use synthetic.
Otherwise, if you change your oil every 3K miles, the standard Motorcraft/Puralator filter will be just fine.

I thought it was fl-200?
And I change my oil and filter between 5k-7k miles. Just sorta whenever I think it's been in there for a while.

I use NAPA gold. I switched to that(from K&N) after reading about how the K&N doesn't have the correct bypass for pre-98s. Also when I got the Bulldog Box from Terry, the filter assembly had a NAPA Gold, I use what the (contour)pro's suggest.

you are correct, but I've never seen a "Wix" brand filter 'round these parts.
