RIGHT! so we drive it for about two weeks along with a 300 mile drive to the kansas speedway for the banquet 400 (go stewart) and now bam it goes again.

could their be water in the gas still? after all this time.i changed the filter again and seemed to work. any ideas

Try putting in HEET again and see if it helps. If not, I wonder if you have a fuel pump problem.

Edit. In addition, does your CEL light come on for a few seconds when you turn ignition to on (not engine running)? (to determine if bulb is blown). And check if Fuse 11 (PCM Keep Alive Memory) is blown or missing (a blown or missing Fuse 11 will not light up a CEL code even though the CEL bulb will light up for a few seconds with ignition to on).

"Battery" light is actually more correctly identified as a "Charging system indicator" light. Has NOTHING to do with the battery. You could, technically (though unsafe), remove the battery from a running car and the light wouldn't come on. (though would be VERY deadly if you moved a hot load wire from the alternator to a ground or yourself!)

The light is indicating a potentially failing alternator, or the wiring between the alternator and the Battery POSITIVE, or the alternator and chassis ground.

Test the alternator. Engine running, voltage should be 14 to 14.5 (voltmeter probes on positive and negative terminals of battery). Chances are your voltage will be much lower than 14 volts.

Well it did it again so the fuel filter is not the problem. i did check the voltage 14.5. bat. cables look a little flakey so im going to replace them today.

also going to check and clean the TB so ill let ya know how that works.

i was reading a post that said you can check your codes with a wire jummper here will this work on my 2000 tour? i would hate to cause more problems.

Jumper for 95 and older vehicles. OBD2 scanner/code reader for 96 and newer. Autozone or Advance will do it for free (or buy one for $50 and up).
