It's come to a point that I need an all weather vehicle now so I have been contemplating one of 3 vehicles. 1. Pre 98 Contour SE 2. A pre 96 Taurus SHO 3. A mid 90's Probe GT (only issue, it's a 2 door) Your probably wondering why those cars, and not some fuel efficient 4 cylinder car? That's just me, even though it will be a "beater", I just can't see myself driving some POS Toyota Corolla or something of that sort. I already have opinions from my son, he says the Probe GT first, SHO second, SE third. Why the post? I would be interested to hear your opinions. I always seem to go back to Ford, guess because I had so many in my past.

I would say get a Pontiac Vibe, best car we've ever owned (my family), great gas mileage and you can take it anywhere.. but if your going for a ford, go for an old Tour.. plenty available.. and lots of ppl here that can help you work on it :P
cheers

Get the CSE. Probes are garbage and problematic. I have a couple friends with them and they're always broken and in the shop and they spend more time in the shop than on the road. SHO's are just...meh...not my thing. Contour SE would be good.
If you really want a winter beater,up by my place there's a very dark purple '96 Contour LX with a V6 and ATX. Don't know the price, but I looked at it and it's no worse than my car was when I bought it. It's sitting on someone's front lawn in town, they just put it there on Saturday.

Went and had a look at a couple of SE's today, one 1997 with MTX, one 1995 with leather and ATX, both Toreador Red. Both were around $2000.00, but look like hell. I must be expecting too much, because either I find a car with a totally destroyed interior, or one with an exterior that may as well be in the junk yard. It's so sad that I traded my 95 SE to get the Nissan Maxima that my ex wife drives, otherwise, I would have an all weather car already in my driveway.

Hmm, I wonder whom that would be? Did you eventually pass your emissions test?
Would you like to PM me details? I am serious about finding a car in the next couple of weeks.
