This guy did a great job on documenting the instructions with lots of pics. Using exhuast piping is an option I hadn't thought about, but should work fine if you can't find aluminum that is the right size. Good find!

nice...on our cars though its different. I can think of no way to attach a conical filter without an adaptor, which I cant find! I dont really want a KKM, 90bucks is alot for me right now, and the onnly adaptor that isnt expensive (BAT's) I wonder if it only fits like metric filters or something, its an odd size IIRC

I recommend not using anything metal at all. Heatsoak is a big problem.

IMO you are better off making it out of PVC piping and fittings.

I have the BAT adaptor with a 3.5" ID K&N filter on it. Works fine.

You can't do that....When PVC heats up beyond normal operating range, it give off fumes that will cause all kinds of problems and destroy your cats. Trust me, I found that out the hard way on my old T-Bird. PVC is not an option. You can have the metal intake coated with foam insulation (like the Iceman Intake) or Jet-Hot Coated or something.

I used to make inrtake pips for Turbo Eclipses and Talons when I was in Club DSM. I used JC Whitney Mandrel bent 2.5" x 45° pipes which I cut and lfared at one end and then painted with ceramic paint. They worked great. The improved spool up and power and made the turbo sound like it was in your passenger seat. I sold about 40 of them to DSMer's who all loved them. People laugh at JC Whitney, but they have a lot of really good products as well as cheesy ones.
I'll see if I can find a pic of them and show you guys.

Check out Performance Fords,

I am pretty sure they have a MAF adapter as well.

I have been pestering them for a while about when Their Intake is coming out. May want to drop them a line and see what their asking price is on theirs.

My first CAI was made for my SE back just before the K.C. '99 National meet. A $38 piece of 2.5" mandrel bent stainless steel. I polished it to a chrome like finish and used the rubber fittings to attach it to the TB with brass plumbing fittings from Home Depot for the vacuum/IAT connections. I sold it to someone here in the CEG... wonder if he still has it...
