I'm having a couple of weird problems.

1. First is the "drip moldings" (according to Ford parts ) on both sides are coming loose on the ends (above the windshield and rear window) and look like crap. They are the black plastic pieces that run the full length of the roof from the windshield to the rear window, one on either side of the car. The plastic is starting to look whitish and crumbly, and the ends are loose.

Anyone have any experience replacing them? Would a junkyard one work, or should I buy new. They are about $35 a piece. How are they attached?

2. My trunk lid seems out of place. The gap on the driver's side is much larger than the passengers. I haven't noticed this before, so I think it's a new occurance.

Can that be fixed?

Any advice on either of these problems would be appreciated. Thanks !

the drip moldings i think you should just get new ones. They are attached using an ahesive so if you decide to get one from a junkyard make sure you are careful not to bend them too much or they will flex and they then to stay bent. As far as the trunk lid try aligning the lid.

Yeah, that's what I thought, about the drip moldings. Any idea what sort of adhesive? Will they come pre-glued from Ford?

How do you align the trunk lid? From the inside using the mounting nuts? Any idea why this would happen? Have I done something wrong. I haven't been in any accidents or anything.

Thanks !

As far as the drip moldings:

Mine came loose on the windshield edge.

To repair it, I just used black RTV. I put a small amount under the molding and then held it down with a welding magnet.

After sitting overnight it was like new.

ANY OTHER IDEAS/ EXPERIENCE on the drip moldings and trunk lid alignment?

3. I just noticed that my headlights have some water in them. It HAS been raining like crazy here, but they have never had water in them before. I have not done anything to them except dehazing. No mods.

Any ideas on likely areas to check for cracks/ leaks etc. ? Any ideas? Where should I check?

Make sure the bulbs are seated snugly, there are o-rings. My sister's 1995 Mystique had fog in one lens, the bulb clamping ring needed to be tweaked a bit to clamp the o-ring. It's still OK a year later. My 1998 Mystique had a bit of fog in its lights but it cleared up today. Too wet lately.

Thanks for the good ideas on the headlight water.

Thanks !

On the trunk I wuld maybe check the hinges and see if they are rusty. On my 96 contour I had the same deal with the hood. It had not been hit but after the guys at the garage opened it the drivers side was sticking up about 1/2 inch over the fender. The hinge had rusted up prety bad and the part of the car that it was bolted to had bent out of shape when the hood was opened.
I pulled the hinge off and worked at it with some grease and a vice till it moved like new and threw it back on. I straightened the bent metal and the hood went back to normal.
