my random technology y-pipe arrived last friday, but due to being out of town and otherwise busy as crap, i didn't get a chance to try to install it till last night.

now, after looking at the stocker for a while last night, i have a couple of questions: how the heck do you get the stock flange bolts out of the flange? are they even supposed to come out? are they re-usable? second half of that question would be, anybody know what size they are so i can buy a few for use as necessary?

miraculously enough, the nuts came off very easily (at least, off the flange at the front exhaust manifold - didn't try the other two due to the above questions).

any tips on installing this thing? it seems conceptually very simple and yet i'm having some problems here....

thanks for any advice/tips/answers...

Yeah, the one at the front, by your bumper is a bit harder to get off, however, I did it using a socket set w/ a 5/8 spark plug socket. I did not re-use the bolts or nuts, as I got them in the SHO-SHOP Y Pipe sent to me w/ the y-pipe itself. The sizes of bolts you will need will be (2) 3/8 x 2.5'' and (2) 3/8 x 1.5''. Don't forget to get the hex bolts, and preferably something that doesn't rust. Other than that, have fun and oh... by the way... take yourself a drive w/ the stock parts off! (w/o the y-pipe on yet) Sounds like a Top Fuel Dragster!!! smile

hmm...i didn't get any hardware w/ mine. guess it's off to lowe's or home depot...but shouldn't there have been 3 pairs of bolts? i.e., one pair at each of the flanges at each exhaust manifold and then another pair at the flange past the cat?

any suggestions on how to get the bolts to clear the exhaust manifold flanges?

any other tips from anyone? (sorry for the shameless bump, but...)

thanks...

Get new nuts and bolts... those factory ones don't like to be re-used. I had two nuts cracked in half while trying to take them off. Soak them in WD-40 or something similar before unscrewing the factory nuts.
