Sometime ago I purchased a set of Part#89675 Camber Kit from porsuspension.com for installation to my 1996 2.0l Tour. This was done in an attempt to correct a protracted (inner side) tire wear problem I had been having & I was told by my local wheel alignment expert it was due to the camber being way out of spec. A few months I installed them & for a time every thing went well. However, recently I have been experiencing sounds like the springs are making contact with something & in checking to ascertain what was the cause I discovered that there was significant play in the spring on the passenger side. As a consequence, today I removed for closed examination, however, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the assembly. However, I took the opportunity to modify an insulator from an old strut assembly from another vehicle & placed it in the bottom of my strut assembly & bolted everything up & that cured the problem on that side. I am now hearing the similar sound, however not as loud from the drivers side so I intend to try the similar thing on that side soon. That said can anyone say whether the OEM strut assembly came with insulators if so where can they be obtained, secondly has anyone came up with an improve to the top plate for the Part#89675 Camber Kit as I find the original setup does not work well & finally could the noise emanating from the springs be due to the change of its geometry brought about by the Camber Kit. The usual informative suggestions, comments & advice will be greatly appreciated.

I found an improvement with the top plates that came with the camber kits by transferring the rubber from the stock top plate. It provided just enough additional thickness to keep the top plate from moving around. I painted the top plate gloss black while I was at it so it more closely looks like stock.

The improved top plate is probably better still.

IMHO Pole pioneered the idea but the plates were made by Thinkmotto.
