I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this topic for me. BTW, I did use the search feature- and I came up with nothing.
It seems that everyone is modding their intake all to heck, as well as the fuel systems, but I rarely (if at all) hear about ignition mods.
Do any companies even make ignitions, coils, etc. for the Contour. The only ignition thing that I have found is wires.
Can any body help? Products and their part numbers would be great!
Thanks,
Rob

i haven't heard anything good about them. i guess if you're really pushin in a lot of air they might help, but from what I've heard most people take them out after a month or so.

As Derk said, if you are using forced induction or if your stock ignition components are going bad then upgraded ignitions may improve performance - otherwise usually not.

Well I don't know the case with contours, but usually with other cars they make some decent power as well as helping out with reliability.

You could try the MSD DIS-4 ignition module...but I agree with everyone else when they say that it would probably help most if you were running boost, n2o, etc....

I had a Jacobs at one point, but took it off because it was loosing me horsepower. It lost me about 2 peak hp on the dyno, but even more than that at some other points in the rev range. I haven't heard anything bad about the MSD system. All I can say is, steer clear of the Jacobs!
