Which model do you think just plain old looked better. Without mods. Personally I love the rear end treatment of the 95-97's almost, Jaguarish, but I like the front end of the 98+ cars. What do you think.

Yes, I like the 98 front and 97 rear the best, also.

I think the 98+ Mystique front is :p , btw.

Worst color ever : 1996 'Coral' pink

Best Color: Tropic green, I'm biased, laugh

2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO.
Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

I like the 96 front on the Mystique with the low rectangular headlights better than the somewhat surprised look of the 98+. I also like the full with taillight/reflector on the 98+ Contours.

I got both on one car.

I seems that "other cars" should have the "surprised look after you pass them!

BTW the best personalized license plate I've seen here is one that reads

It's most impressive in your rear view mirror when they come up behind! laugh

I got interested in the Contour when I first started seeing them in Touring Car racing. At that time it was the 95-97 body style and I thought it looked great. Yeah, I know some of the cars were Mondeos but the fronts looked similar. Then in 98 the new look appeared and at first I didn't like it. But after awhile I warmed up to it and now it's my favorite. The front looks properly sinister, especially when the car is black and lowered. The rear end might look better without the big chrome strip but I can live with it. laugh

i also like the newer front end and older rear ...i thought the redesign gave the car a classier look and more modern....however when i get my new lenses for the headlights mine will be the much nicer to look at

back in 2000 when mom was getting ready to replace her grand am i went looking at 2000 sables and so on......a shiny silver mystique (top of the line, but i dont know what model desugnation is) loaded with leather snrf and just beautiful car....for 18k with v6....i tried like hell to get her to get it but she ultimately came home with a 2k taurus for 15k....i even tried to get her into a duratec taurus but after a front wheel spinning test drive she was too chicken to get it and settled for the vulcan model....

95 contour se...dark blue...monsterflow air filter...remanuf atx...wiring harness recall or bust!!!96k miles...motorcraft awsf32pp plugs & red ford racing 9mm wires...kvr black plated cross-drilled rotors & carbon fiber pads...currently undergoing renovation...excuse our dust!!!
are my dodgers for real????

This is exactly how I've always felt (except the Jaguar part). Someday, when I have money to waste, I would like to get an SVT, swap out the rear trunk, and install a pre-98 trunk. I know at least one CEGer has done this.

Has anyone noticed that the newest Jaguar's rear end looks like a Kia? (Or vice versa - Kia looks like Jaguar.) I seriously can't tell the two apart when looking at them far away.
