Ok, here is another one for you all. ...On top of the oud noise that it makes ( i think someone said it was the moose) and tries to cut off, each time i turn on the ac, heat or just touch the brakes the ights go dim. I can even rol down my window and the ights dim a bit..and it sounds ike it is dragging the motor down. i've had it checked over and over...supposedly the alternator is putting out more than it should ad i just repaced the battery. I had the ac and heating unit checked..but alas it is perfect. Every ford place i take it to tells me nothing is wrong. HELP please
If your car is idling bad as per your other post...try cleaning the IAC valve, and installing new plugs and wires. (Get them from dealer ) What is the voltage at the battery with the car running...lights and defroster on ??? Also try replacing the PCV valve as well.

Test the alternator. With car running, it should be 14 to 14.5 volts. If the alternator is putting out more than it should, you might "burn" out your new battery. You might be able to get by with just replacing the resistor ($50) but as the alternator is such a PITA to remove, it might be wise to put in a new one if you end up taking it out.
