I searched on this and found some answers, but I was hoping to get some fresh ideas.
Recently upon heavy acceleration/load, I am getting a pretty heavy vibration in the pedals and steering wheel. I had my left drive axle replaced about a month ago, but I highly doubt this is the problem. This happens in all the gears, but is more pronounced in the higher gears. My father suggested that the clutch could be on the way out, but I'm not getting any grinding of the gears or any surging at high rpms.
I'm thinking motor-mounts, but is there a way to check which one(s) are bad?

Did the problem start after the axel was replaced? If so, I have the exact same problems (I've posted about them before). My car was making a poping noise, brought it in for a new drivers side axel, picked it up and noticed a vibration when I accelerated (all gears, all angles of steering wheel)! I had that axel replaced again (under warranty) and even replaced the pass. side in order to try to fix the problem. Every place I take it to says (CV joint/axel). My next move will hopefully be to get my hands on some OEM (read new) axels and replace both remanufactured ones. If that doesn't work, I'll look into replacing all of the motor/transmission mounts. (I know, do the cheap stuff first, but I have an extended warranty so both will cost about the same to me in the end).

You might like to check that the locking clips on the shaft end into the gearbox are in fact holding the shaft in place. They need to be seated (locked in ) so the shaft is not moving in and out on acceleration. Also check your lower ball joints for wear.

I know the ball joint is fine... i replaced it recently. I still have to check out the motor mounts, but I think the issue may be the new CV joint/axle, especially since I'm only feeling the vibration at higher speeds or high-torque situations.
I know my clutch is on the way out also... any way a bad clutch would cause these symptoms?

Unless anyone has other ideas, I'll be calling my mechanic on tuesday...

Thanks

I took him for a ride today. He's thinking the clutch, especially since I'm getting a metallic clacking under hard acceleration as well. Said that if it were the axle, it would be vibrating any time it's moving, not just under acceleration.
