Just over a month ago I bought my baby, a 98 silver frost csvt. I have all the recipts for the first 3 years of the cars life, since then it has been driven less than 30,000 kms. Am I still able to get any recall work done or is there a time, milleage limit to these. The only major one I don't have a recipt for is the water pump, can I assume that if it hasn't gone after 170,000 km that it has been done. Also how do I figure out the production # of the car, I noticed that everyone knows the number of their car eg. 200/3000. The car was manufactured in 9/97 so its an early one.
Thanx for any help

Take her in and get her checked out. The worst thing that can happen is they tell ya no. But I am pretty sure they will fix your car cause it is a recall.

Not true, a dealership has the right to refuse a recall notice after a period of time- in some cases 5 years max.

EX. The dash warp recall is no longer accepted for recall work.

Call 1-800-ford-svt, give them the name, vin, and what not, they'll mail you a certificate for the car- no charge, too.

In the US, if it is a safety recall, they have to fix (or buy out) your car no matter how old the car is. Of course, after a few years, the car is worth almost nothing. The dash warp issue is more of a Customer Satisfaction Extended Warranty rather than a safety recall.

He didn't state what kind of recal (beside fuel pump). It seemed as if he was just asking in general abotu recalls. Safety recalls, yes, regardless of year, they MUST honor. A 1987 F-150 can still go in for it's recall on teh "exploding gas tank" issue.

Thanx for all your responses, I guess i'll take it to a ford dealership and see what they say. I've never dealt with recalls b4 and wanted to make sure that since i'm not the original owner I would still be eligable. I'm pretty sure that the water pump has been done, since every other recall that I know of has been, ie. dash, spring shields, throttle cable, ect...

What if the dash warp is completely blocking the defroster vent, and has curled up to the point of partially obstructing visibility? Seems like a safety hazard to me.

The NHTSA makes the decision on whether it is a safety hazard or not. You may want to register a complaint on their website. I think if enough complaints are lodged, they will launch an investigation and make a determination.

First off if you have 170,000 km on the car you probably not going to have any luck getting certain recalls done.

Yes Ford's computers will document by VIN what has/n't been done.

If someone on here still runs oasis reports they can run one and send it to you. I had mine done and it
told me what was left on my car.

When they ran my oasis this was what it said:
The main underhood harness and blower motor harness/controls hasn't been done.
The warranty if you have problem is 05/22/2006 or 150000km.
