What do you guys think about one of these? I saw one at a dealership and it looked very nice. 3L V6 Duratec, power everything, leather interior. I have also seen a few after-market parts for it. There is even a super-charger! Very tempting. What do you guys think about it?

The Escape was never made with the 2.5L V6. It either had the 2.0L I4 or the 3.0L V6. The V6 version isn't bad, but it doesn't have low range in the 4WD mode. It's more of a weekend warrior SUV.

The Mazda mini van had the 2.5L until this year. It was always considered underpowered until the 3.0 was dropped in for 2002. :p

My bad, I don't know what I was thinking of.
Time to go crawl into my hole and never come out and back.

I drove one, fun as hell for an suv. Just wish the lease wasn't so expensive it was $100 more a month for the escape xlt 3.0 than an exploder xlt 4.0

It's been a great vehicle for us. We've had ours for just over a year and have 17K on it all ready. Comfy, good acceleration and good mileage. If you want an specifics drop me a PM.

We got a 2002 XLT Sport Escape with 6cd player etc in February and think its a great rig. We had a chance to drive it through 200 miles of very twisted broken pavement roads and it handled very well.Last weekend we put several hundred freeway miles on at 70/80 mph and got 17.5 miles per US gal. I love my Escape as well... it's nice and easy with 201 horsies and 200 lb or torque... compare to Honda CRV which is barely drivable with MTX and absolutely not freeway-merging friendly with ATX. I only wish Ford made the 3.0 with MTX... and floor shifter... column shift is kind of hokie pokie guess which gear I'm in... not fun when you end up in neutral intead of drive at the red light trying to peel out...
