Hey Folks,

How do I remove the wiper arms so that they can be repositioned?

After my windshield was recently replaced, the driver's side wiper now seems to be set at a "steeper" angle than it was at. I believe that the arm may be on a spline (correct me if I am wrong) and may therefore be removed and repositioned.

Assuming this to be correct, at the base of the arm, I've gone so far as to remove the shrouding and unscrew the nut and washer. However, I can't pull the wiper arm off, and am wondering what next?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all,
DCL

you are correct...it's on a spline...when I removed mine I just grabbed the crow part of the hammer and at the same time I would pry I would wiggle it back and forth...eventually it came off.....just make sure you mark the wiper so you know where it was originally.....when I did mine I put a little too much on it and it popped right off and then when i put it back on it was worse than before......becuase i didn't mark it......but you can basically eye it up w/o marking it....

it's really not difficult.....let me know how it works out.

Yeah.. they just.. stick.

Keep at it using a rocking motion, using the length of the wiper blade itself for leverage.. not that I am saying to PRY on the blade.. just.. life up/down to rock it. Spray some PB Blaster on there and loosen it up first it your want.

If you have one, an old fashioned battery cable puller works very well to pull the wiper arm off the splined shaft.

Advance sells a wiper removal tool for $6 or so.

Thanks, everybody, for your help. Battery puller did the trick just fine, and just in time for the winter!
