Just to clarify, I made the original post to get you guys psyched up for the turbo kit.

It's a cool way to get power, not making the extra hp unless you're on the gas. Hopefully it works out better than the supercharger kit...

Here is another link of the same car in action.... 12.73! (video)

I don't know about that.SlimShaddy just Beat a chipped Audi 1.8T It also had Intake Mods His said his boost gauge was pushing 16PSI And he beat It.It was also automatic with 4 Wheel drive.

SVT 2 1.8T is probably making the same or more crank hp, with maybe 10-15% less driveline loss, ~700 less lbs, and a stick....hmmm.

You 1.8T guys sure are a bit cocky. wink

Since you are, any of you have any track times?

Run the 1/4, get a timeslip, then talk the talk.

Wow! Sorry to cause such a rucous. I would much rather be driving my old SVT then my new Jetta but come on. Straight away, assuming I do not f-up my start my 14.6 quarter and mid-6 o-60 would beat a stock SVT. That is all I was saying. I would much rather (as stated before) have the handling and feel of the SVT. Hey I am a Ford guy in the wrong car. I have 189 wheel hp and 211 wheel torque. A SVT cannpt handle those numbers. And guys I would MUCH rather have my SVT then my Jetta (as far as driving fun goes). Infact I am currently selling the Jetta and or trading it for a 2000 SVT in Texas.

ok... just FYI, the vw B5 platform A4/passat is a TOTALLY different car from the VW A4 (golf, jetta) body. the B5 platform cars ESPECIALLY the A4 weighs about 400 lbs more than the jetta and i'm only estimating. oh, and even though the automagic can "shift faster" it's way slower and heavier, even with the chip...
and as another poster said the newer 1.8t cars in vw lineup are up to 180 HP (reported as 170 so as not to piss off audi)
the TT comes in 180 and a huge ass turbo on the 225 HP model (the one with psuedo-dual exhaust).
The 2002 VR6 does indeed have 201 HP but is quite a bit heavier than the 1.8t. i'd go with the 1.8t anyday.

I come from VW land and represent VW hardcore eek. MY 86 GTi would blow the pants off of my so far stock 98 SVT. (i just raced the guy i sold it to, and he can't drive worth a$$, although i'm still getting used to the mushy ass clutch in the CSVT)
just to add some fuel to y'alls fire, i am going back to VW land as soon as i get some money together for my 1.8t A2 GTi conversion.
I drove my friends, who had the stage3 kit and it was totally ridiculous. 280+ FWHP!
mine is gonna be AWD. oh, and that is the other thing. VW doesn't make 4WD. it's AWD, REAL AWD.

BTW, VW of north america sells really crappy cars compaired to what the europeans get. (just like ford, and bmw) just take a look at the RS4 (argghhhhlll)
VW smokes you hosers! (and me)

laugh

that all said, i love my CSVT, it's smooth and roomy, and nice on the inside. (coming from an 86 GTi) :-)
i'll have it until i can afford an RS4 US conversion.
meanwhile i'll be racing my 1.8t conversion in FSM and whooping A$$! laugh
have a nice day now!

"your" is possessive, "you're" is the conjunction that is short for "you are", "there" is for "the dictionary is over THERE", "their" is the possessive one, and "they're" is a conjunction that is short for "they are". have a nice day
