OP 98gl New CEG\'er 9 Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 12	Hi, I am new here nad have been lurking for a couple of days. I have a 98 Contour GL with 178k that runs very well but will barely pull itself 300 ft in drive or reverse. It also makes a "whirring" noise for the first couple of minutes when started. Will a CD4E from a 99 cougar bolt to a 98 Contour GL? Can anyone tell me for sure Yes or No and why it can or can't. I would like to put a used tranny in for now and rebuild the original myself. Thanks

fastcougar_dup1 Hard-core CEG\'er F Joined: May 2000 Posts: 1,336 Kearneysville, WV	No, it won't work ... different size Torque converter and different bellhousing ... if you have a 4 cylinder car, you need a 4 cylinder CD4E and if you have a 6 cylinder car, you will need the 6 cylinder CD4E.
