I didn't mean it as a stab at cougar drivers. I was merely stating fact. I have not once seen a man driving a new cougar in my area. Plain and simple. Chicks around here just buy all the coupes. Oh, and I would highly suggest not making fun of contours on here. It isn't wise to make fun of the car the site is based on....just a simple reminder of where you are...

I meant in stock form not in his ultra light carbon fiber form.

Driver's race in either combination as stated above. It's like asking if that Contour will beat that Contour and they are exactly the same. The cars are really that close. Cougars only came in manuals for the 4cyl though so if you have an 4cyl auto a Cougar would beat you. I know the 4cyl manuals come close to the V6 autos.

No I don't think it really is that close. The cougar is a nicer looking car stock than a stock contour but it weighed in at least as much as an SVT. Except for special cases it weighs more and when all else is equal it is slower. I've never seen a stock cougar v6 w/MTX take out at stock contourGL v6 w/mtx.
Yes it is still a drivers race as there isn't that much of an advantage from the weight difference, but from the drivers being equal perspective the nod goes to the contour GL versus the cougar and/or the SE contour which is a more equivalent car to the cougar.

a stock cougar's curb weight cannot be 3300 lbs.

about two years ago, i went to my local track and they have a car scale, and with myself in the car and about 1/2 tank of gas i tipped that scale at ~ 3160 IIRC. I weigh 180-190 depending on when i eat......so do the math

Cougar is no more, parts for sale. Built escape 3.0 w/ 8.5:1 pistons, PnP heads, ovalport/mazda6 cams, SVT manifolds, the works entire car for sale PM me if you want a part!!!

Yeah, sorry Warmonger, but yer a bit off there man.

Even with the full bodykit, tons of fiberglassing, 2 N2O bottles, full fuel cell (water tank) in the back, and 19" wheels my car is just over 3150 as of this morning. GMK has been weighing his car since day 1, so if anyone knows what the Cougar weighs in stock and highly modified trim, it'd be him.

Funny, we thought this as well, until a VERY early (early 98 build date) ATX Zetec came to Hamillfest! (Yes, one DOES exist, lol...)
