Hey all, I have a 96 with an implanted 95 Engine. my IMRC don;t seem to work. i don;t have an IMRC control unit, but have been told the 95 engines use vaccuum IMRC stuff. I tore into my car today to investigate. I see a vaccuum solinoid, but don;t see the connection to the IMRC linkage. I did find a place where a cable was to be installed to pull the IMRC open, and a place for a cable to connect to, but no cable is in place. i got a few pics I would like some help to know how exactly the IMRC system in a 95 engine is to work...my car has a 96 wire harness with a connector for an IMRC controller, but i don;t know if it would do me any good to get a box to hook up.
Please help if you can. see pics below.

Autozone has Figure 4 on this link for a 95 vacuum routing. Hope it helps.

I tried to follow the vaccuum diagram and it does not look like it matches up with my car...there is nothing connected to the IMRC spring or linkages, it most positivly does nto function. I revved it up to 4500 rpm in the garage with no luck in getting those things to open. if anyoen has pics on how this is supposed tyo connect up with either the electronic (96 and newer) or the old 95 vaccuum setup, any pics would be helpful, righ tnow my car is unhappy and I wish to fix it.

on this engine can someone tell me if the secondaries are open to closed? The front lever looks to be forward (I'd assume open?)

Those are closed.

the front linkage is pulled towards the firewall by the rod which is connected to the secondary linkage (with the spring on it, like the TB linkage) that linkage is initiated to be pulled by a cable (in 96+) or by a vacuum actuated unit in 95s

MIne is stuck open then....the linkage is being pulled tword the firewall by that big spring. i looked into the engine more and found that thing engine is a conglomeration of various parts. The valve cover is stamped 12-94, the black lines off the top of the UIM read 9-95, the bracket that the spring is connected to for the IMRC system read 4-96. I think I need to get an IMRC system froma 96 or newer...it's all I can figure. Can someone tell me where the actuator fits for the IMRC.

Also if my secondaries are stuck open will that hurt performance and fuel economy?
