Suggestion 1: This belongs in Troubleshooting
Suggestion 2: Tell me more information
(How old are the plugs, the plug wires, the fuel filter, and the air filter?)
Any CEL lights?(I know, "check engine light lights" makes no sense, but still)
Automatic? Manual?

The last tune up was at 90K wires and spark plugs were changed then(about 3 years ago)...i do have CEL on, the coding was a EGR message too much air, and not enough air...and it is an automatic.

First off:
fix the codes.
It would have been helpful to get the code.. to VERIFY what it was. Assuming it really is "insufficient/Excessive flow" then I would look in to replacing the DPFE (below the TB and towards the firewall...)
Once you get rid of the codes, we can work on the "less" important passive aspects. (not judging the importance to YOU.. )

In the meantime, you may want to pour some HEET (or gas stablilizer) in the gas tank, change the air filter, fuel filter, change the ATF, clean the MAF sensor, clean the IAC valve and check for proper inflation of tire pressures.
Edit.
Fuel filter.

IAC cleaning
from Ray's UIM/LIM how to in Duratec Maintenance how to.
"Replacing the IAC gasket:
(From IAC faq)
Over time, the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve becomes sticky due to buildup from the EGR and PCV systems. It can stick partially open such that idle quality is adversely affected, and engine RPM's will not drop below 1500. For a while, blipping the throttle will restore normal idle, but this only works for so long.
The fix is to remove the IAC valve by unbolting the two 8mm bolts that hold it on and disconnected the wiring plug. If you are careful enough, replacement of the gasket will not be necessary. The gasket costs less than US $1.00, so it is no tragedy if you destroy it. Once the valve is off, spray it out with some carb/intake cleaner and make sure any gunky residue is gone. Reattach, and you are done. It is a lot cheaper than a new IAC, which runs around US $70. Note: Ford claims the IAC cannot be cleaned, but this is not true in my experience." Ray.
