You could always play with Blender, for the time being. And it's free!!

I miss Blender. I used to spend at least 3 hours a day on it, but haven't had the time in a long time. There are some really cool things in the newer versions that I would love to play with, but...

Is there a reason you want to use only Lightwave? I get pretty good deals on most 3D apps, and I have extra copies of everything laying at the house right now, but I don't have any extras of Lightwave. If you'd be interested in a different app, lemme know, and I'll see what I have for Mac's laying around...

I would be willing to use any 3d program so long as it has the ability to create architectural renderings, and not so much 3d looney tunes and video games. From all of the reading that i have done, it looked like lightwave had the most capabilities, ie. walkthroughs, lighting, texture, mapping ad things of that nature.

Once again, i will try any programs you have for the mac though, it would hurt.

Thanks for the reply.

Are you sure Blender won't suit your needs?
A quote from their page...

"Professionals and others use Blender for:

Architectural/Industrial applications: Blender lets users create AND deliver superb photo-realistic animation - in convenient, compact files. It's ideal for walkthroughs. Worried that real-time 3D presentations will strain your budget? Enter Blender: Make models, design, and present interactively in your own product environment, and without straining budgets...."

It's not all meant for Loony Toons and games... might be worth a shot.

I couldn't agree more... and for the price, it couldn't hurt to use it. I mean, it can import so many different formats and even export more.

Check out their archives page and just look at some of the images.

I found the image below after doing a quick search, over at www.elysiun.com , using the word "architectural".

Bear in mind, that for whatever reason, this guy posted this image as a test, because it was rendered using OSA 8!! It was also rendered using Blenders internal render engine. You can easily export your rendering jobs to Yafray, Virtualight, POVray, MegaPOV, Lightflow, Radiance... and a few others.
