I figure if I am running a good set of drag radials with proper weight dist....It might be possible. There are a few guys running mid to high 10's in Omnis on slicks of course. Now, if we're talking a rolling start, my chances would be much easier...say 20-120 or whatever.

Nice ride..

THe power potential for the GLHT is a blast..

Ive seen a heavily modded Omni blow the doors off of a ZO6, it is doable.. there are videos oline for me to link to ya for the non believers..

Get yourself the late model 2.5T1 or T2 intake manafold so you can convert your T1 suck through to T2 blow through..

You can rotate the Garretts housings for the T2 configuration easily.. Add TPS wiring to the excisting wiring harness and a charge air temp sensor and your ready to roll.. add a stage 2 mopar ecu (under 200 bucks) and your set for 14psi.. Fun cars..

I swapped in a 2.2 T2 setup into a Dodge Rampage as well as a few other things.. Its running off of a 1988 SMEC ecu and using a 1988 LeBaron wiring harness..

Can you believe that the truck is exactly the same as your GLHT from behind the seats forward?

heres a few links to check out incase you havent seen em yet..

www.turbododge.com

and search for "team omni" L body specific mailing list..

With a rolling start all bets are off and that's any platform that has the same or better power/weight ratio of a Z06. It then starts to become an issue of gearing and most importantly, driver ability. I'm leaving out aerodynamics for the time being, unless you are trapping nutty triple-digit speeds.

Again, power isn't the issue; strap a big enough turbo on a "prepped" block, throw a monster displacement N/A wonder underneath a hood, etc., etc. and whipping ANY car in existance today is absolutely possible.

Getting physics reigned in on a FWD platform is the MAIN issue. Slicks are great, but others on this site and those that drag FWD cars have found out that it takes more than a set of drag radials up front to keep as much weight on the front wheels as possible during launch. I'm largely ignorant of the suspension wizardry that's involved, but I do know that it usually costs more than getting a RWD platform setup for the same speeds...

...but that's part of the fun for some.

Hey Breakneck you should come to someof the twin cities meets! I used to own a 92 dodge spirit r/t with the intercooled 2.2L twin cam Lotus heads and that car flew, a real sleeper as well. Stock was 224hp!

Awesome car man, I've been researching, these cars for about a year now, so I have a good grasp of what mods I'll need to do. Thanks for your input...by the way, I am anokabball24 on Turbo Dodge. Sweet 'Page
