Alright, I registered on CEG.org in January of 2003...I was a very active member for at least a year or two, as I was the proud owner of a 1998 Contour....2.0 Zetec....ATX. At the time I wasn't financially well off, but had a love for Ford Contours, and anything that was powered by a Zetec. Unfortunately I just sold the car not 3 months ago, and purchased my new ride.....

An '86 Dodge Omni GLHT....for those of you who know little about mid-80's Mopar cars...It's equipped with a Garret Turbocharged, non intercooled 2.2L SOHC engine...pumping out 146HP and 167 FT/LBS Torque. The car weighs around 2500 pounds with a full tank, and was purchased for $500. I'm getting into these cars very much, and have witnessed them run 11 second quarter miles with as little as $3000 in mods. Once again, I had to go with a sleeper, as Honda, Acura, and Toyota were never going to be an option. I am very impressed with my new car, albeit old, and plan on fully restoring it. I'm looking to lay down about 300 whp and find myself running low 12's, all in a daily driver...enough to spank the doors off a Z06 Shouldn't be a problem. To date, in stock form, I ran a 16.2 with a 2.4 60' in 100 degree heat on 87 octane...not bad for my first drags. C/D roadtested it in '86 at 15.7 with a 0-60 just above 7 seconds...

Sorry for the long post, but I was cruising turbododge.com and someone asked about if there was forum for Contours...and it immeadiately brought back memories....I like what I see with some of the cars on here...keep up the good work!

Super active, as you only have 21 posts!!

J/K with ya...

I had something very similar to that blow the doors off of a Mustang I was in a long time ago. The guy that was driving the Mustang didn't really want to race exactly, but man, those little dodges are fast!!

It's a Missouri made GLHT, purchased in '86 and drove straight to Califronia...where I bought it, and spent most of its life.

Do you folks thinks it's some tough feat to run a Z06? I figure with $4000 in modifications, including price of car, some time, and effort, I should be-able to run low 12's relatively easily. I'm not saying I'm gonna strap on some bolt ons and go walk Corvettes. But I think you folks need to educate yourselves a bit more about mid-80's turbo Mopar cars before you downplay my goals....

Thanks,

Tony

HP and TQ aren't your problems in a battle with a Z06...

...putting that power to the ground with a FWD platform will be.
