I've been debating this mod as well as of late, and was wondering what the actual difference was in terms of performance and noise. Anyone here with comments, experience? confused

It's going to be louder for sure, you just have to figure out if you don't mind a little more drone and the such. It's really not that bad, but definitely louder than stock.

On the performance front, no one AFAIK has dynoed them but many have said that they definitely feel a difference in the seat of their pants laugh

If you don't have money for headers or will not be getting them for a while I would gut them...I know I will be very soon wink

To gut the front pre cat you can use a plumbers rota router. It is basically an electric drill with a flexible shaft and a starfish type thing on the end.

In real world terms, how much louder is it. especially with a resonatorless exhaust system?

You need to hear mine with the MSDS and Borla setup, much louder than just the borla. Probably very loud with your setup.

on my setup (Flowmaster 40 series exhaust - no resonator - dual tips) it was a little louder... mind you the flowmaster is already VERY loud to start with...

gutting the front precats is pretty easy, i ended up taking a long piece of steel originally used for a peg board to hold tools, bent it straight leaving a small hook on the end, stuck it in a drill, put it through my 1/4" hole in the bend and started gutting them out.... was pretty easy this way...
