I did a search for all of this, just to let all of you flamers know, so when I ask this if you dont want to take up more bandwidth then please dont reply... I am just looking for some help. I want to upgrade the exhuast on my 98 SE to a Borla kit and in BAT's catalog it said that I was going to need to add 2 additional hanger points. I know about the one where the other muffler is going to hang, but where is the other one supposed to go? Also, on the drivers side of the car, where the muffler runs there is what I presume to be a heat shield... will I need to put one on the other side of the car when the new muffler is put in? Also, about adding these hangers, will Ford or a muffler shop do this and for how much? I want an OEM hanger post installed on the frame for the rubber just like what is on the drivers side, are these obtainable? The how to for making your own hanger was not clear and confused me and also did not appeal to me... I want something that looks stock. Any pics or help on how to hang this system would be appreciated. Thanks.

He's not asking about true duals, rather the quasi dual Borla type system. Might want to repost with heading like "Borla questions" or something fenderman...

a good muffler shop should do it for you. but if you really want it to be "OEM" go find a wrecked SVT, and cut the one off. oh, I don't really know where the 2nd one is they mention. just go to a good muffler shop when your Borla comes in, and have them put it in. Or, you could save a bunch of money, tune the sound and appearance to your personal taste, and prolly get more performance out of a custom done true-dual
It's all about balance.

Hey guys.... thanks for the suggestions... if I cannot buy a hanger post from Ford, then my next option will be to find a wrecked Contour and cut the hanger off (if anyone is willing to donate, name your finders fee, etc as my resources are limited... no b.s. just a straight up offer to anyone who is generous enough to help). I plan on taking the car to the muffler shop to get the hanger welded in, but as far as the exhaust system goes, it is going in on my own muscle and my own time. I do my own mechanic work, but since I lack experience in welding, I am going to have to bite the bullet and take the car in at least to get the hanger welded on, if not to run the pipes in to get the joints welded. But the pipes will be removed and installed by me. Xchang has an SVT.... so the OEM hangers were pretty much there for the mufflers. This is why I made a point of posting that my car was an SE which does not include that hanger on the passenger side or the heat sheilding for the muffler. Nice system, but not enough info... the enthusiasm to update us with technical specs and such seems to have died out. Plus, with an expensive Borla system a quasi dual is all I can afford right now (college budget) and cannot afford the extra cat, etc. Thank you all for your help.

If you want an SVT exhaust,
I have one for sale now and will have another 1 or 2 shortly. We can modify them slightly before shipping them too (that is improve the resonator). Will be able to provide hanger if you need one too....cheaper than buying a new borla with decent performance gains (especially if we fix up the resonator).
email me if you are interested at all.

Use the Taurus hanger. No welding req'd. As Alex said-we've got 1 ready to go with the hanger you'll require when adding to non-SVT 'Tour. Relatively easy bolt on depending on the amount of snow/salt/rust.

Hey guys... I wanted to thank all of you for your responses. Sorry I haven't responded sooner, no disrespect to any of you, but with all the stuff going on in our nation right now, it makes my quest for 3 measly hp seem small and insignificant. Well, I called another Ford dealer and located a hanger.... roughly 25 bucks shipped and I think that is my best route to go. However, the problem is finding someone to weld it on. I have been to muffler shops that simply tell me they cant fit a drill in there to run the rod into the passenger side "frame rail" and if they torched the hole, they would probably burn the underneath of my car As far as the kit goes, Borla has sold me on their muffler systems. Expensive yes, but damn well worth it for the sound and the quality I have encountered with other systems I have heard and installed on other cars. Two questions: Does anybody have pictures or suggestions on how to hang the passenger side muffler on a NON SVT Contour without torching the undercarriage? Is it possible to drill this other hole to get the passenger side mount slid in and tack welded? Also, what are the experiences with the inexpensive high flow cats.... I heard that there are some out there for 52 bucks, when I was expecting to pay about 300 for one, so what is the difference? Once again, guys... thank you for your help. Oh one more request..... please keep the prayers going for the people in NY. America will stand strong through this with the ongoing support of its allies and its population. The support I have seen from everybody has been overwhelming and it is great to see such a positive response in all of this turmoil. America is #1!
