Of course, you realize now that even by buying a new tb, you'll still have to pull the old.. and the ports still have to be cleaned... (aka same procedure as cleaning the egr ports.. minus buying a TB for no reason.

Yes I do realize that. I will have a beer and laugh with you when my CEL light is gone!

We replaced the EGR valve, the vacuum regulator solenoid and the pressure feedback sensor. The code is now a "P1408-EGR Flow out of Self-Test Range" Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If the cleaning does not fix it try the hoses that lead to the DPFE sensor. the parts guy told me those hoses can become brittle and clog. I have seen this code on a 2001 windstar and my 2001 explorer and both were just a matter of replacing the DPFE sensor. my truck has 135,000 miles and the windstar has 113,000 miles. Both same code. Ford told me they replace these parts all day long.

OK. The job is done. I hope I did not spray too much throttle body cleaner into the passage that leads to the EGR valve. Would it hurt me if I did? Now we will see what kind of October it's gonna be. Travis, I will keep your suggestion in mind if I'm still not successful.

Believe it or not there are codes if the hoses are reversed come off, which could be a bad hose or some have reported the small outlet rusted/broke off the main EGR feed tube.
Sorry to hear you had to buy all those unnecessary parts.
Most of the time the DPFE goes it operates in a worst envoirment than the EGR.

Tonight I am having a beer and laughing with you folks. My mechanic reset the OBD, I took a nice long drive for an Egg McMuffin and went back to have the inspection. I am now sporting a shiny new NY State 2006 inspection sticker on my windshield. My mechanic said that he learned something today and that he had another Ford with the same problem. Many thanks to you guys. I may have purchased some unnecessary parts but with all things said and done, it's done.

New CEL codes today...PO420 and PO430. I had my inspection and passed on Saturday so the urgency has been somewhat removed. Looks like the cat this time, no? I didn't want to start a new thread for this.
