i have a brake problem, and i have never had this problem untill the SVT.

I have no idea even were to begin, the symtoms i am seeing are similar to that of a warped rotro EXCEPT no pedal vibration.
when i use the e-brake i feel and hear teh noise so its deffinatly the rear brakes. and i believe its the right side, because i can hear it coming from that side. the only way for me to be 100% sure of the side is if i was in the back seat. unfortunatly the police frown upon one driving a car from the back seat, plus it makes it hard to check yoru blind spot

anyway if any of you local boys, or girls have ever had this problem please let me know.

thanks
Andy

How about your wheel bearing? It might only have play while theres pressure on it like a ball joint. I would raise the tire off the ground just enough to stick a pry bar under the tire. Pull up on on it several times..see if you feel a thud or just loose. Also check all your bushings. That will also cause vibration.

Also, to narrow down the "rotor issue" swap rotors to the other side. See it the problem moves with it. I really dout it. It sounds like a suspension issue. When your moving the pressure is all on the front of the bushing ((O)<<<<< when your braking the pressure shift to the rear of the bushing >>>>>(O)). The more wore out it is the more "play" there is.

that makes sence, however since i have driven the car more than 300 miles in the last 3 days i have noticed the noise has decrease substantially... now i dunno if that is because the brakes or what, but the thunking sound has all but gone away... the only thing i notice now is that the brakes dont seem to make the vibration at a frequency anymore mostly JUST as im at the end of my braking and coming to a complete stop and the vibraion is very light now...

so im stumped i am going to have Napa turn them and also put the "ground blanch" into the rotor that it should have come with... and see if that solves my problem.

anyway thanks for the sugestion i will check into the wheel bearing but when i spun the tires on the hub it spun for what seemed like 5-10 minutes without any noise or signs of slowing down... would you be able to tell by torquing on it with a crow bar? and which bushing are you talking about? the bushing from the struts or the bushing from the control arms?

thanks again

both could cause problems but the ones that would be most likely are the control arms

All of the above. Your using the pry bar to check for play.

it looks more like a spring coil and a cable, with some kinda device that conects to the calipers and it seems to work i eleveated the wheels spun the rotors and had teh wife pull the e-brake slowley and they moved right i cleaned em up nice, because they had alot of road grime built up on them. but they apear to be working fine...

NOW, i have noticed that the brakes seem to be getting better.
i notice the clunking noise VERY seldom now. and its magnitude has diminished considerably. i wonder if the rotors were just not machined right when they were made...

i will take everything off tonight and take it to a friend who is a machinist and see if he can put the "Ground Blanch" pattern into the rotors, to check and see if that was the problem... i was a little skepticle about that when i was first told about it.

i also checked the caliper slide pins last night, took a good long look at them, they slid with relative little pressure when the caliper was hinged away from the rotor without the pads in there... soooo i assume that they are ok.

i will post once i figure anything else out.

thanks guys
