Work is sending me to Chicago for a tech conference Tue-Thur next week. Can anyone suggest things for me to do while there? I will have basically all of Tuesday and Thursday night to myself. I'll be staying at Hotel 71 if that means anything. I'll be flying in so transport will be limited to cabs/transit

Thanks.

There's just so much to do its kind of hard to know where to start. Maybe you could give a little bit of background about yourself, what you're in to and then maybe you'll get some response. What conference you going to?

I'm pretty easy going. Not a club person, more of a bar/pub. Since it's my first time to the area probably looing at doing some sightseeing and maybe buying a few gifts for the family

sears tower skydeck, navy pier, millenium park (go see the bigass silver $100 million kidney bean), michigan ave. (expensive place to shop for presents..).. and if you want bars, go to the north side of chicago (lincoln park, lakeview, etc.)

go to cityofchicago.org, i believe there's a lot of info on it. just look up some of the stuff i suggested on that site, n itll tell you how/where to get there!

71 is a nice hotel, applied for a job there a few years back. I would say the John Hancock open air deck is much nicer than the observation deck of the sears tower. Navy Pier is cool, and everything else others have said is right on.
