Hi all! I just recently moved to Clinton Township in Hunterdon County, NJ and was wondering about oil disposal here. I like to do my own maintenance, so where can I take my used motor oil and ATX fluid for disposal? Is it the same here as in NY in that every service station that does oil changes must accept used oil from the outside?

Thanks.

It should be the same, I believe it is a national thing.

Hi!
My husband grew up in Annandale. My in-laws still live there so keep a lookout for me as I'm in that area occasionally.

My Mother-in-law said that the Township has a place at their Municipal Building to dispose of oil. It's located on Highbridge-Annandale Rd. (after the bridge underpass).
She didn't know the hours they were open, she suggested calling the Twsp. to find out and also ask about the tranny fluid.

Almost all of the large auto parts chains accept used oil and batteries. Antifreeze, well I still can't get rid of mine. I need to do another flush, on both cars, and can't. I can't justify paying the dealer $100/car for something I can do for under $50. The local and county DPW also accept used motor oil.

I also can't find anyone to take coolant. Pep Boys did when I changed my wife's motor in her truck, but when I flushed my system, they said they no longer take it. Any one want to but some used coolant, cheap? LOL

Give it to a nieghborhood dog you dont like, or a nice little river.

Well dont do either, i would just call around, try dealerships see if they will take it. Or just write coolant in huge letters on the container and leave it infornt of their garage door at night, then its their problem :-D

I do like the way you think Brett. I have three bottles of antifreeze that I can't get rid of, I like the idea of leaving it at neighbor's house. :evil laugh:

The municipalities don't want you dumping it in the storm drains/gutters but they sure don't make it easy for you to dispose of either.

Also, thanks for the idea of calling up the folks at the Municipal Building, Luca. I'll have to try that.

Best regards to all!
