anybody know the best way to install the dvd player, "tricking it" into thinking the e-brake is on by shorting it out? maybe a how-to or something? pictures are always good. thanks!

depand on which kind you have, the 2005 pioneer model are not working by grounding them, you need to install a switch before grounding it n turning off and on two time to make it work.
its how we suceed to make work our new pioneer demo at work. for the other brand im not sure but the last year pioneer dvd were working just by grounding the brake wire

just a thing to remember !!
if you have a accident and they discover that the brake wire was grounded and not plug at the proper place, your insurance have the legal right to refuse to pay, just to let you know, be carefull with that...

GIT-R-Done is correct in grounding out the e-brake wire, that will work with most models and brands. but like SVT3Rivieres said the newest pioneer models avicn2 and avicd2 use the onboard GPS to determine whether the car is moving or not and disable the dvd function appropriately. There is a fix but it is complicated and requires soldering two points on the circuit board. peresonally not something i would want to try with with a 1500-$2000 unit.

You could ground it normally, and just use the e-brake at one click, at one click it doesn't hurt anything because it just takes up a little slack but doesn't engage the e-brake
