I'm interested in doing some performance mods to my 99 SVT that are realatively inexpensive. A member on the forum suggested I get a K&N intake. What are the main advantages this will give me over the stock intake? What will the horsepower gain be? How much is itand where can i get it? Thanks in advance for answering my series of questions, it will be a huge help - Andrew
well the k&n filter should run around 50 bucks, the hp increase well is about nil but you never have to buy another air filter but it does flow more air than a stock filter also makes a nice intake noise the the fram. also look in to replacing your resinator with a strainght pipe or an aftermarket free flowing res.
all i need now is a lot of throttle and a whole lot of bottle
Seemed to me the K&N improved throttle response in the lower rpm range, and stopped the A/C from being such a tremendous power hog (it's still nothing like having it off though) my .02
I thought about getting a K&N for my 98svt, but went with an IGT filter & air inlet pipe from BAT. I noticed some gain in hp & a nice improvement with throttle responce. It costs more than the K&N, but it looks a lot better.
