Ok this is really weird. I have a '00 mystique gs 4 cylinder atx. When i'm stopped at a light or stopped with the car in drive and the AC is on the the speedo runs at like 5-10mph and the car is not moving. Also it really bogs the car down when I have the AC on. I have 114 k miles on the car. I just cleaned up the TB and MAF recently but I didnt get all the junk out of the TB so later today I plan to do that. I have a system with two amps and i'm wondering if i need a bigger alt? Also I have that same problem with the car dieing when under 1/4 a tank. You know you hit the gas and it wants to die so you have to take your foot off and coax it up the hill to you can come to a stop and then it will take off like it's supposed too. I guess that's two problems but anyways the car gets to sit now because I have a company car. Now i have time to work on it and I was curious who has had this problem with the ac/speedo. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Man I guess 114k is a lot of miles for a '00 .

I hope this is not the fuel pump or sock.

Car damn near died tonight when I was coming home. I turn the ac on and the lights get dim and the car acts like it doesn't have enough power and it doesn't want to move and the engine really feels like it's under strain. I'm planning a trip to Arizona and then Utah next month and i've been putting money into the car to fix it up but I am not going through the deseret with out the AC my wife will kill me. Any thoughts? Maybe check and see if it needs to be recharged? Could it be the IAC? Not a mechanic I just change my own oil and plugs and clean the maf and the tb. I install stereo's and amps but not to much into the engine so help is needed and appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like the charging system can't keep up with the electrical demands... ie a bad alternator. Time to get the car tested (for free usually) with a load test. Go to Autozone for this.

Hmm I hope not. That would suck. Maybe after four years of drving around with my system bumping it's finally killed the alternator. Have an efx 1200 cc dry cel bat. I will get that checked tomorrow thanks.
