Don't laugh...but Autozone actually has an AWESOME!! compnay build their manual trannys...I only know this because I did a lot of research!! I used to be a manager there. They also update the parts and give you a warranty...that's where I got mine and it has held up to turbo beatings.

Although I don't remember how much I paid...i got a good discount...but I think it is around 1000.

Yep whole thing...then they charge you a core charge to get the old back they outsource building so you don't have an autozone screw up rebuilding them.

When i was looking for mine...I actually found a phone number to make contact with the trans compnay that rebuilds them...they know what they are doing. They even used the really high dollar red goop sealant stuff. I had an awesome shop install it and they said they were really impressed with the tranny...they said the goop stuff is like 80 dollars a bottle.

Terry Haines is the best guy for MTX75's though. They have changed the internals a lot, and some parts are meant for 4cyl and others are V6. Some can be used together and some cannot. Since he was an engineer with ford and knows the MTX75 like the back of his hand, I had him build mine.

With a torsen LSD, upgraded shift tower, upgraded shift forks, upgraded gears and syncro's it came to about $1500 to rebuild my trans.

check out www.car-parts.com for a MTX75. You can find low mile units for $400-500 and it'd be under $100 to ship. Look for non-SVT units as those are usually likely not to be beaten like an SVT or maybe a cougar. 2000+ model year units are the cream of the crop, but remember to get a V6 trans. The difference in the newer Cougar units is the shift tower that was used with them, but that could be changed out to the correct upgraded shift tower if need be.

I like how you 'think' you know something.

How do you know better parts? What's Terry's warranty? Is he local?

I am not saying don't ship it to Terry. I just think people need to really so research before handing out advice.

Part of the problem is that I dont have the option to just park my car for a month, I wanted to get something, so when my tranny does finaly go, that weekend i could take out the bad and throw in the good. and be done with it.
